Verily i, the servants, the helpers and my followers defend them, because christians are my citizens and by allah i hold out against anything that displease them. No compulsion is to be done on them. Neither are thier judges to be removed from thier jobs nor thier monks from monasteries. No one is to destroy a house of thier religion, to damage it, or to carry anything from it to the muslims houses. Should anyone take any of these he would spoil God's covenant and disobey his prophet. Verily they are my allies and have my secure charter against all that they hate. No one is to force them travel or to oblige them to fight, the muslims are to fight for them. If a female christian married to a muslim it is not to take place without her approval. She is not to be prevented from visiting her church to pray. They churches are to be respected. They are neither to be prevented from repairing them nor the sacredness of thier covenants. No one of the nation (muslims) is to disobey the covenant till the last day (end of the world).

Message:: Addis Ababa, September 8 (WIC) - Chief administrator of the Harrari state disclosed that the state government would attach due attention to furnish the Jogol Wall site with the necessary infrastructural facilities the coming Ethiopian New Year.
n an interview with WIC in connection with the Ethiopian New Year, Murad Abdul-Hadi said a plan is set to carry out various activities to preserve and pass the Jagol Wall site, the fortified historic town inscribed on world heritage list, to the next generation.
Some 60 per cent of the 300 million birr required to furnish the site will be obtained from the state government and people and the balance will be covered by partners and natives of the state residing abroad, Murad said.
According to the president, the development projects to be carried out around the site include creating a clean and attractive environment for tourists to visit the site. Building of roads and renovating ancient houses, among others, would also be carried out.
Commending the achievements gained over the past five years in the various sectors in the state, the chief administrator said the people of the state need to consolidate joint efforts to join the middle income category through expediting the development and democracy building efforts.

Message:: Administration finalizes road projects

Harar, August 22 (WIC) –Two of the three ally asphalt road projects being built with over 27.7 million birr in Harar town have been finalized, according to Harari State Administration.
Administration Finance and Economy Development Bureau Head, Ahmed Abdosh, told WIC the construction of the projects have been launched last budget year. According to Ahmed, the two roads are open for traffic now and efforts are also underway to finalize the remaining road project. The state administration allocated budget for the construction of the roads, it was learnt.
Haremaya University under expansion drive
Harar, August 24 (WIC) – The Haremaya University said it is undertaking the construction and expansion of 14 projects with more than 41 million birr.
University Health Science Faculty Dean, Melak Damena, told WIC that the projects are being carried out in the premises of health science and medical college in Harar town.
The government earmarked the budget for the execution of the projects which include expansion of four students’ dormitories and three classroom buildings.
Seven service buildings consisting offices, a library, computer center, laboratory, and warehouses are also among the projects under construction.
Upon going fully operational next academic year, the projects would help enroll over 3, 240 students.
The university also carried out the construction of five multi-purpose buildings in the Harar campus with over 11.9 million birr last budget year.

The Harari were awarded a trophy from the hand of Girma-Woldegiorgis, president of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, for their old tradition of planting indigenous trees and keeping the environment clean and efficiently managing water so that the scant supply of water reaches all homes by means of a fair distribution.

Message:: Lake Haramaya (in Oromia), once more than 10 miles around and 30 feet deep in places, was not a huge lake. But for decades it provided water for Harar, one of Islam’s holy cities with a population today of about 100,000. Nearby Haramaya University was named for the lake and a still active university website says the campus overlooks “beautiful Lake Haramaya.” But the website is dated 2000. Back then, fishermen worked the lake and farmers relied on it to irrigate their fields.
Now Harar gets by on water drawn from what remains of an underground pool beneath Lake Haramaya’s bone-dry basin as it awaits completion of a new system that will pipe water from 30 miles away.
The new system will not provide water for the region’s farms. Some farmers have found water by drilling into Lake Haramaya’s dry basin. But they have had to buy pumps. Farmers without extra money have watched their crops suffer. Most of the fishermen have moved to another shrinking lake over the next range of rolling hills.
