PROFILE OF SOFI DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION
* Who is Sofi Development Association (SoDA) ?
Sofi Development Association (SoDA) is an indigenous, non-governmental organization (non political, non profit making) registered by the Harari Regional State Bureau of Justice and Security Affairs under Licence No.507.
It is an Association committed to the reduction of overall poverty and eradication of extreme poverty and bring about lasting improvement in the undesirable conditions and lives of poor people by addressing the root causes of poverty.
2.Sofi Development Association’s (SoDA’s) Core Values, Vision, Mission and Goals.
2.1 Core Values:
* Humanity – People Centred
Sofi Development Association, born of a desire to bring assistance/support without discrimination to the poor and the marginalized endeavours to prevent and alleviate human suffering, protect life, to ensure respect for the human being, to bring lasting improvement in the lives of the poor people.
* Impartiality – Fairness and Equity
It makes no discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, age, sex, class or political opinions, Ensures that all people have equal opportunity for expressing and utilising their potential.
* Integrity – Transparency and Accountability
It upholds honesty, transparency and accountability in its relationship with all stakeholders.
* Quality – Professionalism
It practices professionalism, work for cost effectiveness and efficiency and invest in the development of human resources.
* Impact and Sustainability
It works with sense of realism in terms of what is needed, achievable and desirable. It ensures that its actions as a whole are compatible with the basic principles of long term development.
* Independence and Good Governance
While respecting the values, traditions and laws of the country, it is free of all pressure which may give a political, racial, ethnical orientation to its projects of which may try to make it act against the fundamental principles of good governance (nepotism, corruption, favouritism etc.) It ensures the prevalence of good governance in all its set ups.
2.2 Vision
Sofi Development Association (SoDA) aspires to see the poor and marginalized segment of the population become vibrant members of the communities in which they have the opportunity to work together in order to eradicate extreme poverty and live in a situation where their holistic development needs are met and become productive members of the community/society.
2.3 Mission
Sofi Development Association (SoDA), born of a desire to reduce
overall poverty and eradicate absolute poverty shall strive to prevent
and alleviate the sufferings of the poor and marginalized through the provision of basic social services and bring about sustainable development.
2.4 Overall Goal
In an effort to respond to the felt needs of the community, specially the poor and marginalized, Sofi Development Association strives to foster conditions in which the community be vibrant and have the opportunity to act together in order to influence the sustainable development of their living conditions at community and family level.
3.Organizational Structure ( Governance)
Sofi Development Association has a three- tier structure.
* The General Assembly - composed of all member is the supreme organ of the Association shall give final decisions on all matters concerning the Association.
* The Board of Directors - composed of members elected by the Genera Assembly from among members of the Association ahs all the necessary power for the implementation of the goals / purpose of the Association. The Board of Directors is accountable to the General Assembly.
* The Secretariat –which is accountable to the Board of Directors shall have an Executive Director and other staff members as are necessary. The Secretariat is the executive arm of the Association.

Harare, ETHIOPIA The Amana kids organization in non government organization dedicated to helping. Those most vulnerable and least able to help them selves children with out patent. Amana seeks to provide a community oriented solution to the challenge of orphan while simultaneously serving as a catalyst and facilitator for sustainable orphanage presence. We believe that children need to belong and be part of family and community life for their long term emotional & psychological Origins of Amana kids The early origin of Amana Kids orphanage organization lie in a mission that volunteer who are founder live in Harar town took initiative role in 1995. During this time there were five abandoned one family member who lost parents in one of the public hospital in Harar town. After observing this tragedy, volunteers decided to take initiative the sad plight of extremely disadvantage children. After a while they organized group of committed friends, individual and set in new chapter to the beginning of Amana Kids Orphanage Organization. Providing several needs such as food shelter cloth and medical treatment in order to sustain the life of kids. Assistance was provided to existing organization in and out side Harar. There after in 1995 Amana registered as an independent formal NGO in registration No 456 this led to Amana kids activities first the conception and establishment of Amana kids organization from five orphans to 21. Message from founders We delegated to up date you on the progress of Amana orphanage kids care center ( AOKCC ) since 1995 Its 3rdyear of operation during these years we in corporate more destitute children in to the program increasing their numbers to 21. Since 2005, we have begun to take care of orphans in the wider community, thereby giving them a better life. Currently we are completing phase two development which include possessing land from concerning regional body to construct various fund raising program finally in these phase we are looking for potential donors in order to make run fund raising activities. Our goal is to reach 500 children by 2015 we owe much of our progress to the fruitful partner ships with dedicated individual, business men, development organization and indeed the communities them selves. As much progress as we have made however AOKCC doesn’t have secure future with out durable sponsors we appeal to all friends, supporters, individual, organizations and business who haven’t yet done so to join AOKCC child sponsor ship program and help to sustain AOKCC. We hope you will find the time to look through the activities and reports too. Those not sponsoring a child: Please consider helping one or two child. The AOKCC team looks for ward to continuing this joint journey of giving back and is attaining our common good in this inter dependent and fragile world we invite you to vast us on ground or virtually. Thank You. Our Mission AOKCC is guided by the principle of first call for children. It’s rooted in the understanding that the early years of any human being are critical formative years deprivation during child hood results in a life time of irreversible damage. Children are the best social and economic investments that can be made. privately or publicly, especially if the future is to be better millions condemned to harsh life of deprivation there is no doubt that the children of to day are the citizens, leaders, professionals and workers of tomorrow. A care to focus of Amana NGOS is to assist children on the brink those who are destitute and have lost one or both parents or have been abandoned and are at great risk of harm and further disadvantage.
For Amana volunteers, poverty is much more than lack of income; it’s about lack of opportunity. We believe that an enabling environment of primary health care basic need such as food, cloth and shelter together with counseling opportunity and culture of initiative largely determined what individual can accomplish.
