The city of HARAR is the fourth holiest Muslim city in the world located in Ethiopia. The historical importance of Harar, its unique buildings, its great encircling wall, and its well fashioned gates, received international recognition in 1989 when they were listed by UNESCO as part of the cultural heritage.
The Harar tribes are most known for their many Masjids, rich cultural clothing, music's, wedding and decorated houses. this tribe has very unique clothing style that catches anyone's attention with it colorful design. their houses are designed very carefully with different shapes of edges that shapes like stair and chair, when you are in one of these houses you don't even need chair to seat there are already built in with the house. to read history click
Harar Ethiopia The city of Harar is an ancient (1520) and holy city. Always an important trading centre, the city is famous for its ancient buildings, its great city walls and as a centre of learning muslim scholarship ( the town has 99 mosques). The city is well known for its superb handicrafts that include woven textiles, basketware, silverware and handsomely bound books, Harar has been a place of pilgrimage from all over the world for many years. Harar's attractions are: - The City Walls The City Walls, and the narrow streets lined with traditional Harari gegar houses. - Rimbaud House A Fine building traditional house dating from the period when the French poet Rimbaud lived in Harar. - The Hyena Man Ethiopia is a land of plenty with a long and noble history giving rise to ethnic, linguistic and cultural diversity. It is the only African country never to have been colonised. It has more than 80 unique rich ethnic, cultural and linguistic groups.
